Gunite or fiberglass in Florida: the actual trade-offs

Fiberglass is faster and usually cheaper: the shell arrives on a truck, and installation runs weeks shorter than a gunite build. The costs are shape and size, because you choose from a catalogue, and the largest shells are constrained by what fits down a road.

Gunite is concrete sprayed over a steel cage in the shape you actually want, at the depth you actually want, with the shelf, bench and spa geometry designed for your yard rather than the nearest catalogue match. It takes longer and costs more, and it is the only answer for an unusual lot, a specific design, or a pool you intend to still like in twenty years. Interior finish gets renewed every ten to fifteen years; the structure outlasts everything.
